Mercury Labs Goes Red

Mercury Labs just finished a set of commercials for a San Francisco Bay Area auto body consortium. We shot these on one of the industry's coolest new cameras, The Red One. Now I'm an old film guy. From my time of shooting film in school to working features in LA, I have always loved the richness, range, look and feel of film. Unfortunately, shooting film is expensive and time consuming. The next best thing? HD video.

While some great projects and images are shot on HD, I've never felt like it was a real replacement to film. But the Red camera appears to be the answer. We shot the commercials at twice the resolution of HD and had the image quality of 35mm cameras 10x in price. Now Mercury can really shoot great looking projects and high- end broadcast at a fraction of the cost. It also doesn't hurt to have a great cinematographer like Sean Mitchell and funny and original creative from Ozone Advertising, Design + Strategy. Enjoy the spot and share your thoughts.
